Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the appointment of CSP Anietie Iniedu Okokon as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
Governor Eno described the appointment as well-deserved and a clear testament to the confidence reposed in competent and professionally sound officers, noting that CSP Okokon’s elevation reflects diligence, character and proven capacity for public service.
The Governor’s commendation and congratulatory message were conveyed during a courtesy visit to the Force Public Relations Department, Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja, by a delegation led by Mr. Raymond Abia, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Governmental Affairs.
Delivering the Governor’s message, Abia congratulated the new Force PRO and expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector General of Police for identifying and entrusting a qualified Akwa Ibom indigene with a strategic national responsibility.
He described CSP Okokon’s appointment as professionally deserved, expressing strong confidence that he will discharge his duties with the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and effective communication.
Abia reaffirmed Governor Eno’s unwavering commitment to peace and security as the foundation for sustainable development. As Chief Security Officer of the State, he noted, the Governor has continued to prioritize security sector collaboration as a key enabler of growth and stability.
He assured the new Force PRO of the Akwa Ibom State Government’s continued commitment to deepening its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force in line with the security vision of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly in strengthening community policing and sustaining national peace and security.
He further assured that the State Government will continue to support initiatives that create opportunities for qualified and credible Akwa Ibom youths to serve the nation through the Nigeria Police Force.
As a symbolic gesture of goodwill, Abia presented to the FPRO a copy of Governor Umo Eno’s biographical memoir titled: “And It Came To Pass,” which chronicles his inspiring journey of service and leadership.
Reiterating the Governor’s goodwill message, the Chairman, Arise with Renewed Hope Initiative, Abuja Chapter, Comrade Tommy Etim Okon, PhD, described CSP Okokon as a worthy ambassador of Akwa Ibom State whose pedigree, discipline and professionalism are not in doubt.
Speaking with nostalgia, Dr. Okon recalled with pride the distinguished and selfless service of the late father of the new FPRO in the Nigeria Police Force, expressing confidence that CSP Okokon will not only sustain that noble legacy but surpass it through dedicated service to the nation.
He stated that the appointment is viewed as a source of immense pride to Akwa Ibom people and honour for the State, while conveying best wishes for a successful and impactful tenure.
Responding, CSP Anietie Iniedu Okokon expressed deep appreciation to Governor Umo Eno for the honour of sending a delegation to felicitate with him, describing the gesture as highly encouraging and a reaffirmation of his Akwa Ibom heritage.
He thanked the Inspector-General of Police for the trust and confidence reposed in him, pledging to justify the appointment through dedication and the utmost professionalism it requires
The new Police Spokesperson noted that while policing is demanding, his family’s long history of service, from his grandfather to his late father, has imbued him with the discipline and resilience required to serve the nation excellently.
He assured the delegation of his office’s openness to constructive engagement and continued support for genuine efforts that promote inclusion and opportunity for qualified Akwa Ibom indigenes.
The visit, which featured goodwill messages and prayers for a successful tenure, was attended by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization, Abuja, Comr. Kingsley Iwok.
