Abia North Senator Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday confirmed that Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo will defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly complex, the former Abia governor described Soludo as a “progressive” aligned with himself, President Bola Tinubu, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

“I think after all the court cases, he is a progressive like myself, President Tinubu, and the Senate President,” Kalu said. “Soludo is a progressive. He will come to APC. In fact, it is confirmed that he will join APC. He has no other alternative.”
Kalu stressed that membership in the APC is voluntary, pushing back against speculation that Labour Party Governor Alex Otti of Abia State is being pressured to switch parties.
“Neither I nor other senators, the Senate President, or President Tinubu have ever forced anybody to join our party,” he stated.
The announcement follows Soludo’s landslide re-election over the weekend, where the APGA candidate defeated APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu by more than 300,000 votes to secure a second term.
