The Executive Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said the plans by his administration to mitigate the damaging effects of climate change have reached an advanced stage.
Tambuwal made the pronouncement when he paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Environment, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, at the Mabushi headquarters of the ministry in Abuja.
The Minister, Dr. Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar in his statement applauds the efforts of the Governor even as he discussed environmental issues, prospects and readiness of more collaboration between the states government and the federal government.
The Sokoto State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Sagir Bafarawa also in attendance stressed that the Sokoto state government have gone far in its efforts to become greener, a step, he said, “is paramount in addressing climate change and protecting the environment.”
“I urged all Nigerians and Sokoto Citizens in particular to embrace this project and key into this green revolution which is paramount in protecting the environment, he added.
Also, in attendance were officials on the entourage of the Executive Governor and the Ministry of Environment.
