The executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, FNSE, FNATE has commenced construction of Abakaliki – Afikpo Road on “concrete technology”.
Speaking with 9news Nigeria correspondent in Abakaliki, the Special Assistant on Media to Umahi, Hon. Francis Nwaze said heavy duty construction equipments that are sited in different locations of the site.
He noted that some of the equipments were seen escavating and setting out while others were seen mixing concrete and dispatching.
According to him, “Some Bridges and Drainages are ongoing while some are completed. To say the least, work is seriously ongoing at the site.”
“Governor Umahi had assured Ebonyians that the construction of Ebonyi International Airport is a must and will be completed and commissioned in his regime. The above has raised Ebonyians hope very high as the completion and commissioning will boost economic activities in the state especially as the St. Margaret Umahi’s International Market, Olympic Stadium, 3 Industrial Clusters, Waste to Wealth Recycling Plant, Shopping Mall etc are about to become functional.”
“The Abakaliki – Afikpo Road is 23.5Km and the major road that connects the ongoing Ebonyi International Airport with other parts of the state and beyond. The dualization will be built with 8inches concrete pavement and to last beyond 70years from its construction date as a sample of the technology that was first built at NigerCem road more than 30years ago is still standing.”
