Gov. Umahi Inaugurates Governing Council Of David Nweze Umahi Fed. University Of Medical Sciences Uburu

The Ebonyi State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, FNSE, FNATE has inaugurated the Governing Council for the David Nweze Umahi Federal University of Medical Sciences Uburu at the Executive Council Chambers, Ochoudo Centenary City Abakaliki on Friday.

In a statement made available to our correspondent by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Francis Nwaze said the Governor charged the new Governing Council and Staff of the Institution to ensure zero tolerance to cultism in the School in line with the State Government’s war against such social vices.

“I must charge the VC, every student and staff must sign an undertaking, any time it is established that any Staff or Student is found to be a member of any secret cult, he has to leave immediately.”

Those inaugurated included: Retired Bishop Michael Nnachi Okoro Pro-Chancellor/ Chairman, Prof. Jesse Uneke Ag-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Confort Akujobi-member, Prof Sunday Ajah-member, Prof. Oswald Chukwu Edeogu-member, HRH Eze Laz Umahi-member, Associate Prof. Nkeiru Folaranmi-Member, Dr. Albert Okorocha-member, Prof. Sam Ineneme-member, Associate Prof. Brian Ogbonna-member, Rev. Sr. Dr. Genevieve Ebulum-member, Dr. Kenneth Ugbala-member, Dr. Sunday Nwangele-member, Barr. Cletus Ofoke-member and Mr. Vitalis O. Offor-Registrar/Secretary to the Council.

Also inaugurated as members of the House of Assembly Service Commission are Reverend Emmanuel Oketah – Member, Magnus Nkah Chinedu – Member, and HRH Eze Emmanuel Nwojiji – Member.

Others are Mrs. Roseline Ajanwachukwu and Uchenna Igwe as members of the Ebonyi State Judicial Service Commission.

Also sworn in were Barrister Chukwuemeka Oji as Secretary, Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission( EBSIEC), and Peter Chimezie Akpa as Coordinator of Ohaozara Development Centre.

Earlier, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Cletus Ofoke said the inauguration of the appointees was to ensure the smooth running of the Citadel of Learning and replace former occupants of the positions.

He said the appointments followed due process as the appointees were duly screened and confirmed by the House of Assembly.

On behalf of those sworn in, Emeritus Bishop Michael Nnachi Okoro and HRH Emmanuel Nwojiji thanked Governor Umahi for the honour of appointing them into their various positions and pledged to deliver on their assignments.
