Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, Ph.D., has sent his hearty congratulations to the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources (Gas), Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo, on his election as the President of the 2026 Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
He emerged as the President of the Forum during the 27th Ministerial Meeting, which took place in Doha, Qatar.
In a message of congratulations made available by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for appointing the Minister in the first instance, and for the support he has given him to succeed, which has led to his election as the President of the 2026 Ministerial Meeting of the GECF, and Dr. Philip Mshelbila, the Managing Director of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG), as the Forum’s Secretary-General, respectively.
“I have no doubt that you will continue to translate President Tinubu’s vision to utilize our country’s enormous natural gas reserves to drive our nation’s economic growth and our push towards clean energy.
“The Government and people of Akwa Ibom State are deeply proud of this elevation and will continue to support and collaborate with you to succeed, both at home and on the international stage.”
The Governor also thanked the Senate President for the support he has shown the Minister since his appointment to the Federal Executive Council.
