Gov Uzodinma Told To Mandate Imo Traditional Rulers To Mobilize Vigilant Groups, Youths For Rural Security Coverage- IMHA

IMO: Governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma CON has been told to mandate all traditional rulers in Imo state Nigeria to mobilize and urge their youths in respective communities for efficient security coverage.

The motion was moved in the hallow chamber of Imo State House of Assembly IMHA Owerri on Wednesday afternoon dated July 3rd 2024 at a commencement of the business as 9News Nigeria reports.

The motion also stated emphatically for the Traditional Rulers in Imo State to empower local vigilante groups already existing in their communities to check and subdue insecurity having known the importance and benefits of a secure society.

9News Nigeria reports that Honourable members of IMHA constituted a full quorum except the four members that were suspended on Tuesday 2-07-2024 on the grounds of misconduct and plans to impeach the speaker and some principal officers of IMHA.

Honourable members supported the motion in whole with just a dissenting voice of one honorable Johnson Duru on the grounds that the Governor of the state, His Excellency Hope Uzodinma has an already existing Imo Security Network.

The lawmaker stated that what the state needs at this moment of high crime prone is to invest huge funds on the security network to equip them both financially and purchase of materials cum security equipments.

The motion gained massive support of the Honourable members present at the plenary who reiterated the importance of security to the state. It is obvious that the height of insecurity bedevilling the state cannot be overemphasized.

The IMHA members admitted the motion in every sincerity of purpose while calling on the Governor to give speedy consideration to the motion as sponsored and co- sponsored by the Honorable members of the 10th House.

Debating the motion, IMHA members also called for steady training, filtering, screening and oat of allegiance by security personnel including community youths to be engaged in the protection of lives and properties across Imo communities.

Having taken cognizance of the importance of social amenities to the masses and the citizens of Imo state which Included good roads, constant supply of electricity, welfare of workers, the 10th House IMHA maintained that Security is the most paramount and a duty for every individual.

Traditional Rulers are therefore told to mobilize their Youths to work in synergy with all the local/ rural security network, vigilant groups and encourage them to be conscious of the state of insecurity and help in checking same in the State.
