Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum of has condemned the terrorists attack on farmers at Dumba community in his state.
The governor expressed sorrow over the incident in a statement signed by the commissioner of Information and Internal Security, Prof Usman Tar.
The terrorists who launched the attack are suspected Boko-Haram and ISWAP members, resulting to the deaths of about 40 people.
Dumba is located near Baga, a community in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno.To enhance security along Dumba and environs, Governor Zulum called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to pursue and neutralize the perpetrators operating in the area and it’s surrounding neighbors along the Lake Chad area.He assured the public that the state government is committed to ensuring justice and security.It was reported that the victims had ventured outside the security perimeters established by the government and military, hence falling into the hands of the terrorists.The governor urged residents to adhere to the corridors demarcated by security agencies to avoid such attacks.Zulum said the government has demarcated land for farming and economic activities, allowing the military to focus on clearing areas.He however commended the Armed Forces for their efforts to secure land for farming and resettlement, adding that the action is helping the government’s strategy to manage displacement.
