Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated the board of Kashim Ibrahim Teaching Hospital, in Maiduguri.
The board would be chaired by Prof. Ahmed Ahidjo, the Chief Medical Director, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
The inauguration took place at the State Government House on Thursday.
Similarly, two other boards, the Primary Healthcare Management Board and Hospital Management Board, were inaugurated by the governor.
They are to be chaired by Hajiya Yagana Alkali and Dr. Joseph Jatau, respectively.
According to a statement by the governor’s spokesman, Dauda Iliya, the boards are tasked with overseeing initiatives designed to enhance healthcare delivery.
Iliya noted that his principal has outlined his vision for the health sector, directing reforms to address issues such as inadequate facilities, insufficient staffing, and a lack of essential medical supplies in some health facilities.
“We are currently witnessing pressure on our secondary health facilities because the primary healthcare is weak. I want you to take all hospitals on a case basis and enumerate all problems in terms of staffing, equipment, and medical supplies so that we can address the issues affecting our health facilities holistically,” the governor said.
Similarly, Zulum has also inaugurated the Borno State Local Government Service Commission Board.
It would be chaired by Alh Modu Alhaji Musa and four permanent commissioners as members.
