Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State was escorted out of the premises of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benin by the DIG Frank Mba. Obaseki arrived at the premises early on Sunday morning, around 2 am, and was later escorted outside by the police.
It was reported that members of the All Progressives Congress, led by Monday Okpebholo’s running mate, Dennis Idahosa, led protesters to demand Obaseki’s exit from the INEC premises at about 3:30 am on Sunday.
As he was being escorted out, mobile policemen deployed to the INEC office shouted at the governor, telling him to leave.
