The Anambra state governor, Willie Obiano’s Senior Special Assistant on Security has been reportedly murdered by unknown gun men in the state’s capital, Awka.
9News Nigeria learnt that the SSA to Govrnor Obiano on Security matters, Hon Azubuike Ekwegbalu was murdered in the night on Saturday 8th August 2020.
The late Azubuike Ekwegbalu was a younger step brother to Governor Obiano’s wife, Ebelechukwu Obiano who hailed from Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state.
According to a source, late Azubike was said to have been murdered by unknown men last night around 1:30 am at the Commissioners’ quarters in Awka.
“Azubuike Ekwegbalu was stabbed with his own kitchen knife from the picture attached to the reports as filed by the police; he was not shot nor kidnapped but murdered at midnight in his living room,” a source wrote
The source said “This is barbaric,” “Security must do all that’s possible to bring the killers to justice.”
He was a perfect gentleman who rarely engage in public functions and anything outside the demand of his Office as the Senior Special Assistant on Security.
The police must carry out a detailed investigation and fish out the perpetrators of this barbaric and inhuman act.
This is sad and heart wrenching.
