The Rivers State Governor Wike @GovWike made a u-turn in his announcement of the coronavirus lockdown earlier today. The governor had announced that the lockdown will continue for a short time before it will finally ease out.
But in a dramatic turn, the Rivers state governor has canceled the total lockdown on Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
This announcement was coming as the news hitting the Social Media waves had it that Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation and ex-governor of Rivers state, His Excellency Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi @ChibuikeAmeachi will be celebrating his 55th birthday tomorrow.
Governor Wike had taken to his official twitter account to announce the reversal of his earlier lockdown announcement.
He said:
” However, after a comprehensive review of the measures we have taken and further considerations placed before us by well-meaning members of the public, the State Security Council has decided to cancel the proposed lockdown on Obio/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas .”
“In essence, no part of Rivers State is or will be under any lockdown from this moment and this will be so, except where it becomes necessary again.”
His Excellency, Rotimi Amaechi will be turning 55 years old by tomorrow there have been plans that the birthday will be largely celebrated in the whole of Port Harcourt.
