A socio-political group known as Akwa Ibom Youth Mobilization Alliance in an enlarged stakeholders meeting held in Uyo condemned what they called assault and rejection of the speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey by certain youths of Ibiono Ibom local government area.
The State Coordinator of the group Hon. Kufre Obot in a press statement frowned at the action of the youth calling it “barbaric, uncivilized and undemocratic”. Noting that Aspirants have the right to consult party delegates with the camouflage of any other aspirant he or she wishes to support in the 2023 gubernatorial election.
He said, the attitude of the some boys in Ibiono has allegedly sponsored by one of the aspirants in the gubernatorial race, was an act of ostracizing the people of Ibiono Ibom from benefiting from the democratic dividend now and the future.
Also, the Ibiono Ibom Chapter Coordinator of the group, Mr. Elvis Udoh, said such an act and attitude was archaic and should be condemned by every right-thinking individual.
The group called on the Speaker Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey to continue his consultation for the Senate, Uyo Senatorial District without fear of intimidation and promised to throw its weight behind his senatorial aspiration.
