The Swiss topflight took to social media to rejoice with the illustrious Nigeria international who clocked another year on Sunday
Taiwo, who enjoyed spells with Lobi Stars, AC Milan, Queens Park Rangers, Dynamo Kyiv, Bursaspor, HJK Helsinki and Olympique Marseille where he is still considered a club great.
He played a vital role in Nigeria U20’s second place finish at the 2005 Fifa U20 World Cup where he score brilliant goals against Ukraine and Morocco. He scored a number of vital goals – mostly set pieces – for the Super Eagles and was named in the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations team of the tournament.
Currently playing in the Swiss topflight, his team FC Lausanne-Sport took to Twitter to celebrate the veteran left-back.
Taiwo who has played eight times for the Les Blancs this season was not listed in Saturday’s 4-0 home defeat to FC Basel at Olympique de la Pontaise.
They are seventh on the log with 27 points from 28 games and they face Sion in their next encounter on April 23.
