The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has declared that about 102 Christians have been killed and over 50,000 houses burnt by rampaging Fulani herdsmen in 25 communities in Kaduna State.
The umbrella Christian body added that 215 other were injured when herdsmen attacked 25 villages in Godogolo and Ninte areas in Kaduna State from May 26, 2016.
It condemned the inaction of both the Federal and Kaduna State governments to address the issue.
The Secretary of CAN in Godogolo Zone, Rev. Chawaison Nathan, who gave the figure at a press briefing by association?s National President, Dr. Samson Supo Ayokunle on Wednesday in Abuja hinted that 10,000 people were displaced and 30,000 hectares of farmland destroyed by the herdsmen.
He alleged that the three Christian villages have remained under the control of the Fulani herdsmen who go about with sophisticated weapons unstopped by security agents.
He faulted the claims by the state government that the communities were safe, insisting that the herdsmen were still waging war against the people as no arrest had been made.
Nathan said: ?Twenty-one villages are without security, 20 churches cannot hold services. The governor visited only one village once and the impact of that visit is not felt till today.
?There is religious sentiment among the security agencies. Unknown gunmen attacks are not true as we know the Fulani herdsmen that attacked us in broad day light,? he stated.
Also, the leader of Manyikanjung Community, Mr. Gagi Ampot, lamented that his entire village was burnt down, adding that the attackers are not unknown as being claimed by the government.
