A State High Court in Port Harcourt has delivered a decisive blow to Tony Okocha and other members of the caretaker committee appointed by the APC’s National Working Committee. The court has barred them from presenting themselves as the party’s chairman and committee members in Rivers State.
Justice Sika Aprioku, who presided over the case, ruled that the appointment of Okocha and six others violated the APC constitution. He noted that there was no valid reason to dissolve the existing State Executive led by Emeka Beke, whose four-year tenure remains intact.
In addition to halting their actions, the court has slapped a N300,000 cost on the defendants for their disobedience. With this ruling, the leadership of the APC in Rivers State remains firmly in the hands of Emeka Beke.
