Hon. Chike Okafor Mourns Passing of Justice Emmanuel Ogwuegbu, Celebrates His Legacy of Integrity and Service

Hon. Chike Okafor, Ph.D., the representative for Ehime Mbano, Ihitte Uboma, and Obowo in the Federal House of Representatives, has expressed deep sorrow at the passing of Honorable Justice Emmanuel Obioma Ogwuegbu, a revered former justice of the Supreme Court and native of Ihitte Uboma.

In a heartfelt condolence message, Hon. Okafor praised Justice Ogwuegbu’s profound influence on the judiciary, noting his exemplary career, which was marked by integrity, compassion, and a deep commitment to justice. 

Okafor highlighted Justice Ogwuegbu’s positive impact on Nigeria’s legal landscape, describing him as a beacon of legal excellence and a mentor whose wisdom, humility, and resilience inspired many.

“Justice Ogwuegbu was not only a remarkable judge but also a compassionate mentor to young lawyers and judges, encouraging them to uphold the highest standards of fairness and truth.

“His legacy of integrity and service will continue to inspire generations.” Okafor remarked.

Justice Ogwuegbu, who served on the Supreme Court from 1992 until his retirement in 2003, was widely respected for his landmark judgments and dedication to justice. 

Hon. Okafor, representing the justice’s home constituency, extended his condolences to the family and loved ones, urging them to find solace in the profound legacy of service Justice Ogwuegbu left behind.
