The Handover Speech Of The Councilor Representing Igwuruta Ward 12 Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

I am leaving here today with a wealth of knowledge I will always treasure. Working here has been a fantastic learning experience, and I am thankful for the skills I’ve acquired. I feel as if being here with you all each day has made me a more complete and well-rounded person.

I’ve learned how to take direction, criticism, and compliments. These are three things I wasn’t so great at taking before, and now I feel as though I can apply that in many different situations.

I’ve also learned to be open-minded, to value other people’s opinions and to consider other ideas along with mine, to end up with a great final result.

Throughout my tenure, I’ve strived to do better; I’ve given in my best and my worst. If I’ve ever achieved anything, God did it through you and if i’ve ever failed in any area, it was a source of a lesson to me for a higher calling. Leaders are not people who don’t make mistakes; leaders are people who never repeat their mistakes. Leaders make mistakes but never dwell in their mistakes. However, leaders try to avoid mistakes.

Because we are humans, I am loved by some and disliked by some. I was able to please some and wasn’t able to please some. We offended people with our words, neglects and actions. However, on this occasion of winding down of office today, I am asking people whoever felt offended by me to let go and I ask those who ever loved me and showed me support to also do the same to the incoming administration and to my successor in particular.

I won’t fail to thank everyone who were part of this journey from inception down to this very day. My family and friends, to my beloved wife Mrs. #Anwurika Churchill; my very own structure #CSM who stood tall and never relented halfway when it was even tougher, may God bless you all.

Special appreciation to my father and political mentor, the leader of my ward, Hon. Barr BS Boniface Sunday Emerengwa for taking me as his own that yielded this good fruits, I’m sure I didn’t disappoint you sir.

To the ward I represented, both the indigene and non-indigenes, my campaign team that brought me on board, my secretaries, special assistants, chiefs and elders, youths and women and my super active PA, Ndawe Nobmayor , etc I am most sincerely grateful, I can’t thank you enough.

Being part of a team has taught me skills that I can use in more than just the professional area of my life. My relationships on a personal level are in a better place than they were, thanks to some of the things I’ve learned from many of you my co Legislators in the 8th Legislative Assembly of Ikwerre LGA. Our individual sacrifices gave a niche to the starting and completion of the council secretariat, I am personally happy that I was among the Hon. Samuel Nwanosike led government that saw to the erection of such a beautiful state of the art secretariat. Not forgetting also the HEALTH CENTER that was also built in my administration as the councilor under the auspices of my principal, the council boss, Hon. Engr. Samuel Osorichi Nwanosike.

All of these projects were attracted to better my ward and the unborn generations to come. To sustain this, the need for a security outfit was borne to protect the ward and the projects put in place by the best team since the inception of ikwerre council leadership. A need for IGWURUTA OSPAC was initiated, after making more than 10 LAWS AS A LEGISLATOR, supported and championed and today IGWURUTA AND ITS ENVIRONS ARE ENJOYING TOPNOTCH PEACE FREE FROM ARM ROBBERY, KIDNAPPING, KILLINGS AND CULT CLASHING ETC.

My scorecards are there; I am earnestly glad I impacted and left imprints in my ward within this limited time as councilor of my ward; ranging from HOSTING A FOOTBALL COMPETITION FOR THE ENTIRE 9 COMMUNITIES OF IGWURUTA WITHIN 6MONTHS IN OFFICE.
• HOSTING A TWO TIME FREE SKILLS Acquisition PROGRAM THAT BENEFITTED MORE THAN 700 PEOPLE ACROSS RIVERS STATE.
• STIPENDS TO CORPS MEMBERS IN MY WARD
• FULFILLED MY PROMISE TO ARU-CAMPERS BY GIFTING THEM A GENERATOR SET.
• FREE HEALTH OUTREACH BEFORE I WAS SWORN IN AS A COUNCILOR AND ANOTHER WITHIN 2YEARS OF MY TENURE AS A COUNCILOR
• PAYMENT OF FEES TO SOME INDIGENT STUDENTS IN MY WARD AND ACROSS IKWERRE LGA. TO MENTION BUT A FEW.

I am happy I finished fulfilling all my campaign promises to my people as I never left nor disappointed my ward to the best of my knowledge knowing that human wants according to economists and philosophers are “insatiable”.

My wish for everyone of you is that you all continue to experience success, to feel fulfilled in all you do, and to have nothing but pleasant results with each completed project! While that may be an overly optimistic wish, it is sincere. On that premise, I can’t fail to once again congratulate my bosom friend and brother, Hon. Llyold Azunda whom the ball is now on his court to do more and greater than me for his people, I wish you the very best as you assume office today with high spirit of true democrat and to the rest councilors of ikwerre lga that will make the 9th legislative assembly I bid you good results all the way. Congratulations!!
