Nteje community in Anambra State turn into mourning mood as school proprietor’s trained dogs mauled a 2-year-old to death

BY PRINCELY ONYENWE, IMO

The management and pupil of Global Growth Academy, Amokpo, Umuanunwa, Nteje in Oyi local government area of Anambra state are embittered over an unexpected dog bite on their pupil on Wednesday 15-09-2021.

9News Nigeria reports that the little baby whose name is withheld at the time of this report was bitten to death during school hours by trained dogs belonging to the owner of the school.

We report that the incident happened in Nteje community in the Oyi council area of Anambra state NIGERIA.

Our correspondent learnt that the 2-years old boy whose name could not immediately be ascertained at press time was a native of Anam in the Anambra West council area of the state.

Reportedly, the nursery school pupil had accompanied his school classmates for an errand to the next compound directly opposite the school where about 11 dogs belonging to the Uk based owner of the school, Chief Chinedu Oka devoured the child.

“The dogs, on sighting the pupils rushed one of them ( names withheld) and bite the little boy.

“The trained dog dragged the little boy to their house where about 10 other dogs joined in the biting spree till he died without anyone from the school management coming to his rescue.

The rampaging Vigilante youths from the community on hearing the sad news entered the compound belonging to the UK based Chinedu Oka known and fondly called Chinedu- Okaa London and SHOT THE 11 DOGS TO DEATH.

Reacting to the accident, the Traditional Ruler of Nteje Kingdom, HRH Igwe Roland Odegbo (Aborgu 2 of Nteje) while speaking with our correspondent said that the Young Man (Chinedu Oka) knows that Dogs were prohibited in their community and went ahead to rear dogs.

In his words, he said “The Young Man knows that we don’t accommodate dogs in our community and he went ahead to surround himself with dogs despite warning from the Community.

“To us, the Young Man committed murder and it is an abomination in our community to kill someone.

“We have handed him over to the appropriate authority and we will make sure that justice is served because we don’t condone evil.

“The youths have killed and burnt the dogs and we are in support of their actions,” he said.

Our source who visited the Global growth academy at the time of the incident said the school had been deserted as he sighted the burnt corpses of the 11 dogs where they were displaced at Ama okpo village square, Umuanunwa Nteje.

This is therefore a warning to dog handlers to cage their dogs on chain during visiting hours to avoid a repeat of this incident.

The school guardian has to be queried for such a high level of negligence exhibited to the children in school.
