Here are details of public hearing on bills referred from the plenary of the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Nigeria to the House Committee on Health Institutions in Nigeria.

Few hours ago, the House Committee on Health Institutions of the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Nigeria, organized Public Hearing from Wednesday, May 05 – Thursday, May 06 , 2021.
9News Nigeria was told that the Public Hearing is one of the requisite legislative processes in the enactment of Laws . Such Bills are referred to the relevant Standing / Statutory Committees of the Legislature from the PLENARY for the aggregation and articulation of the opinions, suggestions and views of the various Stakeholders, Industry Players, Policy Makers, Civil Society Organizations and the General Public for thorough legislation ( s).
These Bills are for the establishment of Federal Medical Centres in Hong, Adamawa State ; Mubi, Adamawa State; Bulliri, Gombe State; Igboora,Oyo State, together with the Bill for the establishment of the National Agency for Sickle Cell Disease and other Heritable Blood Disorder in Nigeria .
The session attracted dignitaries, including the Hon. Minister of the FCT, Musa Muhamed Bello, Director General, Nigerian Law School, Prof. Corona, former Governors, including Their Excellencies, Bala James Ngilari and Jubril Laido , and countless professionals and academics and stakeholders and industry players and regulators and the civil society groups.
The Hon. Dr. Pachal Chigozie Obi, representing the Ideato North / Ideato South Federal Constituency of Imo State, presided as the Chairman of the Committee. Apart from the wealth of knowledge and experience and capacity and competence and expertise which Dr. Obi displays and exhibits as a medical professional and a technocrat, having risen through the ranks to become a Director of Public Health in Imo State, a Permanent Secretary, and then the Principal Secretary / Permanent Secretary, Government House, Owerri, Imo State for beyond seven years from 2011-2019 ; the brilliant Legislator radiates peace and humour, even beyond honesty and simplicity . He is truly a walking encyclopedia of medical and legislative experience and capacity and competence and expertise and knowledge ; a blessing to Nigeria beyond Imo State and the Ideato Federal Constituency.
The Clerk of the Committee, Mr. Abass Hakilu anchored the activities of the Secretariate, and assisted by the Legislative Offices of the Hon. Members of the Committee. And the Dominion and Diamond Konsults , headed by Temple Okonji Esq provided the Consultancy Services.
