The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has revealed that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, used lies and propaganda to chase them out of power in 2015.
It said the consequence of their conspiracy has brought disaster upon the country.
Prince Secondus, National Chairman of the PDP, who spoke at the inauguration of PDP Contact Committee at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Friday, said that what is happening in the country now calls for all hands to be on the deck.
He said that APC administration is desperate and has chosen to deploy all anti-democratic forces to intimidate, harass and cow opposition to submission.
He said, “As we proceed towards the 2019 general elections, our great party has already taken a number of necessary steps aimed at Rebuilding, Restructuring and Repositioning the party ready to regain power once again in our country.
“The founding fathers of this great party, had in mind, the creation of a great political organization which would have in its membership, people from all works of life, hence they adopted the motto – Power To The People and the Logo – An Umbrella- depicting Comfort, Protection and Accommodation.
“Consequently we have since taken a number of positive steps to show faithful commitment, our willingness and desire to accommodate and partner with people of like minds desirous to save our democracy and rescue our dear country. I am pleased with the tremendous positive responses that we have received so far.
“It is now abundantly clear to all discerning minds that the conspiracy of 2014 to grab power by all means hatched and executed by the All Progressives Congress, APC succeeded in foisting a most disastrous government on our country. The APC has turned out to be a colossal failure as the lies and propaganda that aided them into office has failed to sustain them in governance. They have not given up their treacherous habit of evil lies and propaganda but fortunately the vast majority of our people at home and around the world have all now seen through them. After more than three years in government it is futile to be blaming a previous government for their massive failures.
“We are also aware how anti-democratic forces have been recklessly unleashed on the country – with intimidation, harassment and blatant human rights abuses, all designed to cow constructive opposition into submission. We will never be cowered!
“At this stage we wish to draw the attention of the International Community to the fast deteriorating situation in our Country. We ask them to take particular note of the unprecedented level of human massacre by the so called herdsmen occurring virtually every day now, which President Trump made a strong reference to in Washington a few days ago; the breakdown of security in the country and the blatant threat to democracy . We have watched with utmost dismay the open confrontation against the National Assembly by the Executive – the recent invasion of the Senate by thugs is a sure pointer to a breakdown of law and order.”
