A Nigerian entrepreneur’s dream of showcasing her brand internationally was shattered after she was detained and deported from the United States upon arrival — despite holding a valid visa. According to the businesswoman, who had been preparing to attend a trade fair in New York, she was granted a B1/B2 visa (for business/tourism). However, upon arriving in the U.S., she was detained for 24 hours and then denied entry.
The heartbreaking twist? Immigration officials allegedly reviewed her Instagram posts, where they found content related to her business, which raised red flags about the true intent of her visit.
“I was granted a visa to the U.S., only to be detained for 24 hours and denied entry into America just because they checked my social media handle and saw what I posted there,” she wrote.
The entrepreneur, who remained unnamed in her viral post, shared how months of planning, sleepless nights, and thousands in expenses were lost in a matter of hours.
