Former Rivers State governor and Minister of the F.C.T, Nyesom Wike, has criticized Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for keeping his supporters in suspense ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a media chat with journalists today, Wike alleged that while Atiku Abubakar and Rotimi Amaechi had openly declared their intention to contest under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Obi has yet to state his position.
“Atiku has said he is going to run in ADC, Amaechi has said he is going to run in ADC, but Peter Obi has not said where he will run. Why are you keeping your supporters guessing? He wants to wait until we are finished working in PDP, and then he comes. Is he a saint?” Wike queried.
He further stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains a strong force, insisting that the party’s resilience is the reason Obi’s name is still relevant in political discussions.
“If we didn’t love PDP by now, you wouldn’t be hearing that name. I don’t need to be a governor to do what I want to do,” Wike maintained.
The former governor also revealed that his political team is scheduled to meet at 7 PM today, promising that their next line of action will be made public afterward.
