I Have Been Doing It For Over 30 Years -Jos Woman Trains 3 Graduates By Roasting Yam

From yam roasting business, she trained two of her children at the University of Jos and one other at the Plateau state Polytechnic, this is the story of a roasted yam seller popularly called Mama Joy in Jos, the capital city of Plateau state as she has produced 3 graduates through her business.
Mama Joy, a mother of nine children now in her 70s. is an embodiment of hardwork, patience, commitment and doggedness. She was able to use her business to train three of her children at the University, as she also support her husband, who couldn’t take good care of the family financially.
Within 30 years, she was able to train her children through primary, secondary and the tertiary institutions.
According to her, she started roasting yam by the road side, three decades ago when she was introduced to a man who sells yam at the Yandoya axis in Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau state, he gave her the yam on credit, and payment is made after sales.
She added that yam worth #130,000 was collected from the trader, after paying him back, she realised a huge profit of #13,000 , with this, she was motivated to put more efforts to her business.
Now, mama Joy is a happy woman as she also introduced other menu into her line of business such as porridge beans as well as soft drinks.
However, mama who is now aged, said she is not ready to quit her roadside roasting, that even when her children wanted opening a provision store for her she refused, saying she is enjoying doing what she doing.
