During the flag-off of Elele Internal Road, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, accused the NDDC of engaging in corrupt practices while using developmental funds to fill their personal pockets. Wike revealed that the NDDC is about to be given a N500 billion budget, pointing out that he would use this one to test or expose their chairman, Mrs. Lauretta Onochie, who told Wike that the commission would follow his legacy in performing the duties required of them in the state.
As regards this, Wike stated that he has contacted his Attorney-General, pointing out that if they should spend this N500 billion on themselves, they would be forced to go to court.
Accommodation him, “I’ll use this budget to test you on whether you’ll sit down to allow your management to allow this N500 billion to be siphoned into private pockets.” I’ll use this one to test the chairman of NDDC, Onochie Lauretta, who said that she’ll no longer do things the way they do them. Our eyes have opened, this N500 billion, our eyes have opened. I’ve told our attorney general to get prepared, and we’ll go to court and challenge them. This one, I will expose them.”
