Grammy-nominated Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, has narrated his experience at a Nigerian-owned bank functioning in London, United Kingdom.
Speaking in a video circulated on social media, Kuti stressed that he was charged outrageously to open an account at a Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) in London.
He said in pidgin English; “I went to GTBank in London to open an account because that’s the bank I operate with and I was charged £50,000.
Kuti berated the bank’s policy, insisting that he only wanted to support a Nigerian bank operating abroad over indigenous financial institutions.
He alleged that the bank was just located there to help the rich with money laundering and other financial irregularities.
He further said that as he couldn’t cope with such a requirement, he got dissatisfied and left the bank premises in a flash.
