A victory wave has swept through Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State following the emergence of Engr. Osborn Nweze Umahi, son of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, as the winner of the Ohaozara Local Government Council election.
Speaking after his victory, Umahi assured the people of Ohaozara that they would not regret electing him to represent their interests and pilot the affairs of the council.
The election was held on Saturday, 22 August, 2026.
He pledged to remain committed and focused throughout his tenure, promising to prioritise the development and welfare of the people.
“I will be committed and focused throughout my tenure. By the grace of God, Ndi Ohaozara will be glad at the end of our administration that we were given this opportunity to pilot the executive affairs of Ohaozara,” Umahi said.
The newly elected council chairman also disclosed that he would not accept any salary or allowance throughout his tenure, stressing that his priority was to serve the people and ensure development of the community rather than personal financial gain.
According to him, he accepted the mandate to contribute to the development of Ohaozara and improve the wellbeing of its people, rather than to make money from public office.
He expressed appreciation to Ndi Ohaozara for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to justify their support through good governance.
