In a bid to develop athletics in Osun State and to create additional competitive platforms for distance runners in the country, Uniq FM and Freedom TV Ilesa have concluded plans to organize a half marathon tagged ‘Maiden Ijesha Grand Marathon’.
The epic road race according to Sesan Omikunle Oyinbolomo of Uniq FM will be unveiled on Friday 15th January at BELTIJ LTD, Kilometer 3, Ilesa/Akure Expressway, Iwaraja, Ilesa.
The rationale behind the long distance event that will come in two categories of 21 and 5 kilometers as stated by Oyinbolomo is to create an athletic event of international standard in Ijeshaland.
Participants, especially the long distance runners that are expected from any part of the country will register free for the maiden road race which is being sponsored by BELTIJ LTD.
The major sponsor of the event, Tijani Remilekun Usman who owns BELTIJ LTD said he’s happy to associate with any venture that will build the capacity of youths in Ijesaland and Osun State in general.
He however, pledged his support to the sustainability of the road race by making it an annual event.
