The Labour Party (LP) on Thursday described as condemnable the statement by the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola describing himself as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when the election that produced him is still being contested in court.
While addressing Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike in Port-Harcourt the Rivers state capital on Wednesday, Tinubu who was in the state to commission some projects had said “I’m the President-elect, your president”.
Dr Yunusa Tanko, Chief Spokesperson of the Obi/Datti Campaign Organisation said Tinubu’s statement is a display of arrogance by addressing himself as President when the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari is yet to vacate office.
“These are part of the arrogance that is already being extolled over the years even before they got into office. They helped in manipulating the system and institutionalizing themselves into a position of power”.
“This arrogance is part of the decay in our system for somebody who has been adjudged to have come into a manipulative tendency now already institutionalizing himself by declaring himself as president while a sitting president is still in office. I think his utterance is completely condemnable”.
