Imam Malik Centre Discuss Islamic Solutions To Economy, Kickoff Annual Conference In Maiduguri

The 18th Annual International Conference of the Imam Malik Islamic Center has kicked off in Maiduguri.The conference started on Wednesday at the centre’s Muhammad Kafaran Hall, Maiduguri.With the theme: Islamic Solutions To Mitigating Economic Downturns in Nigeria, this year’s focus is on exploring Islamic ways in addressing economic challenges in the country. In his welcome address at the program, Prof. Emeritus Abubakar Mustapha, Chairman, Shura Council, emphasized the urgent need to adopt Islamic solutions to address Nigeria’s economic challenges.He also took the opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements of students from Borno and Yobe States in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), highlighting their academic resilience and progress.Other key scholarly contribution were made by Prof. Muhammad Alhaji Abubakar, who presented a paper on “Building a Vibrant Economy for Addressing Financial Challenges in Nigeria: Learning from the Islamic Approach.”The conference also featured a question and answer session, facilitated by Sheikh Abubakr Kyari, Executive Director, of the center, where participants discussed practical ways to apply Islamic teachings to contemporary financial issues.Also speaking, His Highness, the Shehu of Borno, Alh. Abubakar Umar Ibn Garbai Al-Amin El-Kanemi, discuss the importance of unity and ethical leadership in addressing economic and societal challenges.Other traditional rulers, including the Shehu of Dikwa and the Shehu of Bama, were in attended.
