The President of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, met with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday evening.
The meeting held at Rio de Janeiro showed the IMF’s commitment to supporting the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms.
Georgieva expressed her optimism about the Nigerian government’s policy direction, highlighting its potential to stabilize and grow the nation’s economy.
She reaffirmed the IMF’s readiness to provide technical and financial assistance to ensure the success of the reforms.
President Tinubu,however, outlined the administration’s key initiatives aimed at addressing challenges such as inflation, foreign exchange instability, and public sector inefficiency.
The details of the IMF’s specific support measures are expected to be unveiled in subsequent discussions between both parties.
This meeting, which took place on the sidelines of an international economic summit in Rio, is seen as a strong signal of international support for Nigeria’s economic recovery agenda.
