Immortalize Patience Umo Eno [Part one]

By Samuel Abasiekong-Abasiekong

Good governance, people oriented projects, and all human interest policies of government are always emanating from pleasant pillow-talks between the King, President or Governor as the case may be with his wife

Wives whose Pharaoh’s heart is implanted in them advise their husbands to turn a blind eye over the public outcry and their bleeding pillow-talks are manifest of their policies and governance, hence the people suffer.

When an administration and policies of government are anti-people, findings have proven that the wife has contributed to it to over an average percentage.

One of the common case of a wife who misled government is the case of Jezebel, Ahab’s wife as seen in the bible in 1Kings 18 and Chapter 19.

And another clear example is the people revolution of 14 July 1789 which brought about the independence of the Republic of France from the oppressing government of the bourgeois

France became free and independent when the people slaughtered Queen Marie Antoinette and her husband King Louis XVI whom the latter always advised wrongly.

Same as garri, rice, beans, fufu, yam, palm oil are major foodstuffs needed by all Nigerians, bread, I repeat bread and I mean bread is the most celebrated meal in France and the French people.

A French native cannot stay for a week without eating bread same as a Nigerian from the south cannot stay for a week without eating fufu or garri and those from the North cannot do without rice, beans or yam in a week.

Thus, King Louis XVI came to power at the moment of flour scarcity from the previous administration and his government worsened the situation due to his mismanagement of resources and poor food sufficiency policies.

The no availability of flour grossly affected the availability of bread. And bakeries which had breads for sale hiked the price and made it completely unaffordable. Hence the citizens revolted.

And when the news of the people revolution got to King Louis XVI, his wife Marie Antoinette told her husband the King to tell the people to “eat cake if they can’t find bread”.

Considering that the production of a cake is much more expensive than producing bread, the people considered Queen Antoinette reply to be provocative, insensitive and anti-people and they breakthrough into their palace and brought out husband and wife and slaughtered them.

Besides, Queen Marie Antoinette an Australian lady who was very young and far younger than King Louis XVI was always accused of wearing too many expensive wears which they said the cost of her clothing was eating up the country treasury.

This epistle is not about Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI of France, but it’s solely about the departed first lady of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno which I am going to write about in series and episodes until she is accorded a well deserved honour in her funeral and immortalized thereafter.

But even where this article is not about Queen Marie Antoinette, the writer is on a mission to show the world the pro and the coin of governance which is always influenced by a bad wife and good governance also influenced by the likes of Pastor Mrs Patience Umo which I call on the Governor to immortalize to keep the existence and activities of the first lady alive for this generations and the future ones to remember and celebrate.

Patience Umo Eno, obedient and submissive wife you were, close friends to the first family say you are a reference.

Death called and you answered, because you fear no death as you have won all battles and now a crown of glory awaits you and to your housewhole there shall not be further unnecessary deaths.

Admired by many, but as death put you out of circulation, most of us who admired you and your dispositions, have volunteered to lead the campaign to call for the preservation and immortalization of your name and effigy to be admired.

Rest in peace ma’am. This is the only offer the mortals offer the deaths, but we shall not offer any such untimely salutation to your husband, children and love ones, but we pray for them to be at peace and have abundance peace.

Less I veer off the crux of this article, I wish to remind Nigerians and Akwa Ibom people in general that governor Umo Eno administration is the most peaceful administration ever in the state since the advent of democracy in Nigeria in 1999.

Fifteen months till counting, one man has succeeded to disarm all sorts of hostilities, ethnicism, political partisanship, religious superiority over others and has kept Akwa Ibom people as one people. This is courtesy of a good wife he had.

Good governance policies are initiated when the leader of government is in a good frame of mind. And good wives are designers of good frame of minds. They are dispensers of peace which makes a man think aright. The departed first lady has supplied peace and good frame of mind to her husband in abundance, reasons we are at peace in Akwa Ibom State and the Governor is loved by all.

Patience Umo Eno, and her husband were to each other reliable and dependable partners in progress in the construction site of Akwa Ibom State of our dream.

Now that the site manager is late, she shouldn’t be ignored and forgotten after committing her remains to mother earth.

Muritala Muhammed, one of the Nigerian Heads of State came to power through a coup d’état he planned and succeeded on July 29, 1975. He stayed in power for just five months and 15 days as he was assassinated on February 13, 1976.

In five months in power, Muritala Muhammed effected a lot of reforms which did not sit well with power brokers, hence he was assassinated.

To keep the memory of this galant military officer alive, one of the country national assets was named after him. I am referring to Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Abuja.

Such recognition should be accorded the just departed first lady of Akwa Ibom State Her Excellency Pastor Mrs Patience Umo.

I will return next week in part two of this article with comprehensive reasons why she should be immortalized
