As the stakeholders summit in Owerri has come and gone, Imo state 9News Nigeria Correspondent Ambassador Princely Onyenwe Esq has made a humble plea to the Imo state government through this medium asking governor Hope Uzodinma to please continue in his good works to complete Nekede/ Ihiagwa/ FUTO Obinze road which has been in total disrepair after the visit of PRESIDENT BUHARI for the commissioning of the first phase of the same road.

In extension, the media Personality was worried over the situation of few major LINK roads within the state which include the Nekede/ Ihiagwa Obinze/ road, Avu/ Obosima /Obogwe/ Amafor road, Toronto/ Naze road, Nekede Zoological garden Old road and others.

However there was a recalling promise by his Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma during the visit of Mr President to complete Nekede Ihiagwa road. Of a fact the contracting firm handling the road work at Nekede Ihiagwa road has disappeared with their working equipments till date as reported by our correspodent.

Onyenwe reiterates the degrading potency of the sorry situation of Imo roads will cause the Government if nothing is done at this dry season to work on the roads. ” Now that i have requested, as a media representative, a voice from the wilderness crying out the needs of the masses and as a watch dog of the society, I am hopeful something good will be done Immediately by the people’s Governor, His Excellency Senator Hope Uzodinma”

Infact, the OPPOSITIONs are using the condition of Imo roads to campaign against the Government and a swift touch on the roads will gain more hearts and increase votes strength in the upcoming 2023 Elections, the Correspodent hinted.

His open letter to the governor reads:

Dear GOVERNOR Hope Uzodinma, it is true that you administration is putting necessary efforts to improve the state to a model status and this cannot be achievable if the people are not supportive to the Government policies.

However, I am happy for being present at he Stakeholders Meeting holding today dated 04-01-2021 wherein matters of importance were discussed.

The exposition of criminal elements by the security agents and the need to fortifying the security of our dear state are paramount.

Please, my dear Governor Uzodinma, my ROAD @Nekede /Ihiagwa/FUTO/Obinze Road towards Ihiagwa link BRIDGE to Obinze is so dangerous and I’m just thinking of what will happen as the rain sets in again.

Users of this particular road have suffered and cannot continue to suffer during the rain time which is fast coming again.

Please sir, you have promised us during the visit of Mr President to complete the same road but still till date the road is so bad that individuals and groups of Oppositions have started grading it by SELF EFFORTS within the NNPC filling station axis to Ihiagwa market square as a remedial work to ease the heavy dangers posed by the condition of this major road.

I learnt that at the commissioning of the phase-1 from Naze area to FEDPONEK front gate, you promised to completing the 45 kilometer road as gazetted.

Last time I checked while on Christmas holiday, the contracting firm handling the road has withdrawn all their working equipments while the dry season last.

Please, my capacity Governor, hear my humble cry and rescue Nekede- Ihiagwa- FUTO Obinze road. JUST as Avu- Obosima- Obogwe- Amaku road is dangerous to ply on.

Once again, here my humble cry my capacity GOVERNOR. Recall that heavy duty trucks and utility vehicles have continued to fall on this particular roads whereby causing terrifying traffic congestion on the road.

In furtherance, the photos attached to this story is the actual position of the roads as at the time of this report and dated 6-02-2022 by 9News Nigeria Owerri.

Meanwhile Ambassador Onyenwe anchored his plea on the outcome of the stakeholders meeting held on Tuesday January 4/2022 at the Government house Owerri where the governor was quoted as thus:

“I am happy to inform you that no fewer than 90 roads are under construction or completed. These roads cut across roads in the city and rural areas. 32 of the roads have been completed and commissioned” – Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Also, Owerri-Orlu and Owerri-Okigwe road to be commissioned in April 2022″

“This is a way to boost commerce, industry and tourism in our State.

“Next will be construction of Owerri-Umuahia road by same contractors Cranneburge contractors.

Work to commence on MCC/Uratta road this month as the design is done and ready.

-Gov. Hope Uzodinma

It is therefore true that governance is not a mere rhetorics, there are gray areas to work on which Nekede-Ihiagwa-Obinze and other roads I mentioned above must not be overemphasized.

Residents of these areas affected by such a bad condition of road command alot of voting Strength and there is no how their Joy will be expressed until the completion of the roads to ease traffic, reduce destruction of vehicles and to avoid further accidents.

There is no doubt Development is not easy but as the people’s choice goverment, the road need immediate attention mostly as the dry season is on.

I humbly make my plea to be captured in the archives of the aftermath of the of meeting of stakeholders in Imo state. More powers to
my GOVERNOR!!

Yours Princely Onyenwe
