🟢Says, stressing Traditional Rulers for one (1) bag of 50kg ‘Tomato Gold’ Rice and three (3) bags of ‘NPK Fertilizer’ per autonomous community is a taboo!

An Ex-PDP ranking Senator in Imo State Nigeria, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi has dolled out hundreds of bags of Rice and fertilizer to the communities in Imo East senatorial zone of Imo state Nigeria.

The sharing took place at the Obi Ndi Eze Imo state located along mbari street in owerri this Tuesday afternoon as 9News Nigeria reports.

During the sharing the “Tal Agro Fertilizer”, NPK 20:10:10- The farmers Choice brand to communities, every traditional ruler and their President Generals PGs were spotted present by Newsmen in readiness to receiving the relief empowerment largesse.

Recall that Imo East Senatorial District comprises of nine (9) local government Areas of Aboh Mbaise, Ahiazu Mbaise, Ezinihitte Mbaise, Ikeduru, Mbaitoli, Ngor Okpala, Owerri Municipal, Owerri North and Owerri West.

Those who spoke with 9News Nigeria during the sharing, regretted such call on traditional rulers who are custodians of tradition and culture by the Imo East Senator to come for the sharing of just a bag of rice and three bags of fertilizer approved per community.

Under heavy downpour, the traditional Rulers were spotted jostling about in the rain to secure and receive the free rice and fertilizer dolled out for their communities.

Speaking with 9News Nigeria some traditional rulers, PGs and community representatives who spoke behind the camera criticized in fullness the sharing method which was based on quantity of items scheduled per Community.

It was added that the one bag of rice and three bags of fertilizer cannot serve the required purpose when shared to the entire farmers in respective community, a call to provide more quantity to enable rural farmers benefit from the fertilizer.

That of bags of rice gazetted may simply be shared one cup per constituent because of its lesser quantity which is equal to one bag of rice per community.

Meanwhile, the Fertilizer bags shared was tagged FG “Anchor Borrowers Scheme” that were likely stored in different state warehouses by political leaders.

“It is an old stock of Anchors Borrowers program fertilizer that was supposedly released to farmers but was stocked for political reasons since its delivery in various political zones in Nigeria.

“The sharing of this fertilizer came late to Imo state after farmers have finished first farming season and awaiting for harvests. And again, the one and three bags per autonomous Community is a waste of resources and proper ideology unless otherwise it was made for Ndi Ezes and not community farmers as told.

“The beneficiaries cannot be the entire farmers in the community as it was tagged by the organizers of the empowerment because such quantity of fertilizer and rice is limited to three bags and one bag respectively.

“The Tomato Gold” brand of fifty (50) kg bags of Rice was shared one bag per community by the facilitator of the FG National Productivity center for the supply of relief materials for Imo East.

The contractor of the relief materials -VG-KINGS NIG LTD has delivered the truck of rice and fertilizer to Imo East Senatorial District through the facilitator of the National program, Dist Senator Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi to the beneficiary Communities in the Area.

Few weeks ago , Distinguished Senator Francis Ezenwa Onyewuchi defected to the rulling All Progressives Congress APC political party and was welcomed by His Excellency Governor Hope Odidika Uzodinma CON together with the Imo APC leadership at the national and state levels.

A well known politician in Imo state who spoke to 9News Owerri hinted that the celebrity Senator is a lucky politician and God sent to Ndi Imo because it is likely he is planning to run the 2027 Imo Governorship race by his expression of dancing steps and grassrooting.

“Since the Senator is from Owerri zone, Ezenwa Onyewuchi will make a good Governor by his unwavering track records in the long duration of his legislative services at the upper chamber of governance, not withstanding the crops of intending aspirants that will show face to compete with him at due time”

However, such Food and Agricultural empowerment that came through the National Productivity center with the help of Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi is a welcome development.

But very surprising to state that the megre sharing cannot cushion the effect of hunger in the land because according to research conducted by 9News Nigeria Owerri, the three (3) Bags of fertilizer and (1) Bag of Rice per Imo East community will definitely be troubled by sharing.

It would have been better for the Honourable Senator to tour round the communities in his constituency with the empowerment relief materials to accord respect to the traditional stool and better still, permit only the Ezes alongside their PGs to share same among themselves.

Tal Agro Fertilizer NPK 20:10:10- “The Farmers Choice” is a standardized product and good quality but the three bags and one bag quantity per community is deficient to serve each autonomous community as 9News Nigeria reports.
