During his official visit to President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday 15-02-2022 Governor Hope Uzodinma briefed Mr President on the progress of work at the Oguta Seaport, a State-owned project being developed in partnership with the Federal Government.
According to Gov. Uzodinma, the detailed engineering has reached an advanced stage having concluded the hydrographical and hydrological studies.
Following the increased water volume at the Nworie River due to the performance of the Ballon Technology Flood control system, which now aggregates and empties flood water from Owerri Metropolis into Nworie River, His Excellency sought the partnership of the Federal Government in building of a Power Generating Plant at Nworie River for electricity supply to Owerri Metropolis and its environs.
Governor Uzodinma also informed the President that his government in collaboration with the Security Agencies, have tremendously controlled the security situation in the State and paved the way for improved economic activities.
With newly acquired Armoured Personnel Carriers and other technology-driven gadgets by the State Government, the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Security would effectively cover the ten (10) Federal Constituencies in the State and greatly improve the security of lives and properties.
His Excellency further gave assurances of the continued efforts to harness available resources in building productive partnerships with the Federal Government and Private Sector for the development of Imo State and the welfare of her citizenry.
