The Imo State Lands Ministry, Survey and Physical Planning has paid a courtesy visit to Okuku community at the Palace of His Royal Highness Eze Paul Unawunma, Eze chimereze Ezeudo-2 of Okuku Autonomous Community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo state.
The visit was in company of lands Surveyor general, Directors of lands, Town planners, Director of Administration and Finance, Accounts Hods , and staff of the ministry Friday July 14th ,2023.
While speaking, lands commissioner, Hon Noble Atulegwu told Okuku people that the government of shared prosperity has brought a message of Goodnews to Okuku community.
He further informed the entire community of the resolve of Imo state government to develop their lands and give same land a recognized title as gazetted in the lands ministry.
Commissioner Noble promised Okuku people of Road development across the community and in extension to the the government layout in the area.
He reassured that the land given by Okuku people will bring development to Okuku community at large and therefore called for harmony and peace amongst all groups while promising that road development will surely come to Okuku in Uzodinma’s administration.
Commissioner Noble told the Okuku people that government will realize the land. That the land does not worth any person’s life and as such call for peace among the land owners.
He advised Okuku people to stay in peace while pleading Okuku Youths to respect the memorandum signed with Imo state government.
He further informed the people where lands were donated by land owners at various communities for public use and development and therefore told Okuku people to calm down, that government will bring development rapidly in their community.
” That nobody can stop the land development going on as scheduled by Imo state government likewise other areas donated by communities and called Okuku people to allow the sleeping dog lie than fussing unnecessary tensions about the government acquired lands in the area.
The Commissioner sighted Nekede Zoo, now Hope Uzodinma New Haven and Umuoma Nekede land now Shared Prosperity Layout donated by Nekede community just like Okuku community has done as equivalent settled for development.
While reacting to commissioners plight, an indigene of the area and a community leader, Mr Kajetan Nlekea frowned at the way acquisation of land is done and further refered to Okorocha’s and Ihedioha’s administration when part of Okuku family lands were taken.
He said the leadership then was dissolved because of a similar deal engaged then with the present day government. He therefore charged the Uzodinma’s led government to address the community properly before taking their family lands.
He stressed that the Dead, Living and the Unborn are all involved in land matters and maintained to a simple but tactical question Okuku asked Hon Nlemoha, if Hope Uzodinma’s administration have taken their land officially?
He stressed that “Nmegbu” which is cheating is not good. He expressed surprise that the same land is causing trouble in Okuku land.
An elder of Okuku community sighted the war between Agwa and Okuku 52 Years ago that the land has been desolate as a forest till government came to rescue the people and develop the area.
The elders called on their Youths to be careful of misinformation and alerted them that alot of money has been invested as to pacify the people. Recently 5m Naira and a Cow was brought to Okuku by Uzodinma’s administration and the people are happy.
His Royal Highness Eze Paul Unawunma, insisted that the land was given to government and there is no going back to the decision. He however told his subjects to be calm while looking up to Uzodinma’s administration to develop the Area.
An Estate Surveyor per excellence who accompanied Imo commissioner for lands and his crew, Ebekuo Lister Okpe calmed the minds of the Okuku people to Align with the government and develop their Area.
