The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) has confirmed that elections into the 27 Local Government Area chairmanship positions and 305 ward councillorship seats will hold on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The confirmation was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Chairman of the Commission, Chief Charles Ejiogu, JP.
According to ISIEC, the elections will be conducted across 4,758 polling units throughout the state.
The Commission said the September 26 date is in line with the 360-day Notice of Election issued on September 18, 2025, pursuant to Section 28(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, as amended.
ISIEC further disclosed that consultations with critical stakeholders are ongoing ahead of the polls.
The Commission urged all registered political parties and other stakeholders to take note of the confirmed date.
