The Secretary of Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State, Hon. Chibuike Charles Philip, popularly known as “Emperor,” has resigned from his position.
In a resignation letter made available to journalists on Sunday, 24 May 2026, Hon. Philip said his decision to step down was reached after careful consideration, noting that the current direction and administrative approach of the Local Government no longer align with the principles of accountability and effective governance expected by the people.
According to him, serving as Secretary to the Local Government had remained a privilege and honour, but the prevailing challenges within the administration made it necessary for him to relinquish the office.
“My primary concern remains the persistent administrative recklessness that has continued to undermine meaningful development within the Local Government,” he stated.
The former Secretary further expressed disappointment that despite the support and vision of the Governor of Imo State, the Local Government continued to experience setbacks in critical areas of governance and development.
Hon. Philip maintained that his resignation was taken in good faith and in the interest of the people of Ideato South, stressing that he would continue to contribute positively to the growth and progress of the area as a private citizen.
He appreciated the opportunity to serve in the administration and wished the Local Government leadership success in its future endeavours.
