🟢 The road maintenance was embarked upon by Iyke Nwosu led village executives while HRH Eze Omadike told his constituents that Umuoma Nekede approved only Five (5) villages/towns pending the creation of more if need be.
The Traditional Ruler of Umuoma Nekede autonomous community in Owerri West local government area of Imo State Nigeria has officially commissioned the maintenance of Umude axis of the old Umuoma road via police post area.
Commissioning the project amidst crowds of supporters and users of the road Monday 03-06-2024, HRH Morison Eke-PhD expressed Joy for opening such a huge remedial work embarked upon by Umude village in his community.
It is confirmable to note that the people of Umude village in De-na-Agwu town of Umuoma Autonomous community in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State have commenced the maintenance of the old Umuoma road under the leadership of Sir Iyke Nwosu, village chairman.
The road was still in progress at the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria while the opening ceremony cum official commissioning was done successfully as witnessed by the elders of the community.
Meanwhile, the turn out of the people living in the area was massive at the moment of the commissioning by HRH Eze Morrison Eke. The reason was that such a wonderful project took its first time in the history of the community under the village leadership of Sir Iyke Nwosu and his workaholic executives.
Our correspondent reports that crowds of rural residents in the area expressed deep sigh of relief from bad condition of the old road by the ongoing road maintenance project embarked upon to make the road motorable.

Iyke Nwosu in his opening address hinted that the road has been in a terrible and dilapidated condition until he embarked the remedial work through self effort. He however thanked a first grade inlaw and high chief of the community, Prophet Dom Daniel and Father Wems for grading the road at several intervals while assuring his people of his unwavering readiness with his functional crop of village executives to complete the maintenance inspite the rain.
In addition, Chairman Iyke Nwosu frowned at the vandalisation of public properties by hoodlums and suspected drug addicts hiding in the community and requested for government maximum security cum local vigilant watch to protect community facilities in the village.
Sir Nwosu further told the press that Vandals have always been destroying, attacking innocent people, vandalizing and stealing electric bulbs, street lights and other public equipments in the area.
In addition, HRH Eze Omadike sounded bluntly to clarify the recognized components and make up of towns approved by law to be operational in Umuoma Autonomous community Owerri West LGA which Included; Umuezerokam, De-na-Agwu, Umuogba, Okwu and umuikea towns respectively.
In his words, “There are five recognized towns approved in Umuoma till date pending when more maybe created if..”
“That does not mean that various villages cannot come up with developmental ideas and enviable projects just as Umude has established by investing resources to make the old road motorable under Iyke Nwosu’s watch as chairman of the village.
“Umude village and Umuagwu village are one entity pending further development and future advancements.
In his ending speech at the commissioning site, the Traditional Ruler Eze Omadike clearly approved sensible development of villages and towns in Umuoma Nekede by community leaders, political groups, non governmental organizations, government officials, group of individuals, corporate bodies, stranger elements and the residents while challenging present Town Chairmen, Women leaders and Youth Chairmen to borrow a leaf from Umude village and do better to salvage Umuoma Autonomous community.
The monarch also alerted his subjects present at the Commissioning of Umude axis of the old road of his good efforts and his stakeholders to attracting NDDC to give the Umuoma old road which transversed the Five Towns, from Umuezerokam to Nkwonunuyo, from Holy sisters bus stop via umuikea, Okwu, Ogbagba and De-na-Agwu police post axis in Umuoma, a standard construction and tarring soon.
Accordingly, plans are on high gear to bring the NDDC through their state/LGA representatives to capture Umuoma Nekede in their development map while expecting work to commence soon, Omadike stated.
On the upcoming switch over election across Umuoma community, Omadike told his subjects that Umuoma People’s Assembly is established by law under the acting PG Chief Okechukwu Opara – Dike OHA Nekede, to conduct the election.
Eze Omadike told Umude People to exercise patience towards considering them of certain leadership positions both in the UPA and De-na-Agwu town pending when more towns will be created at due time, if need be.
The traditional ruler called for peace, unity and progress across the five towns of Umuoma Nekede rating the road maintenance by Umude village as highly commendable and benefititial to mankind.
The commissioning witnessed crowds of residents, elders of the area, community leaders, Umuoma Royal cabinet, the Clergy, Umude women and De-na-Agwu Youth Chairman. Some political appiontees including an indigenous Special adviser SA to the Majority Leader IMHA and Umuoma community public relation manager PRO Amb Princely Onyenwe were present at the Commissioning event.
