Leading stakeholder in Imo State and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Chief Longers Anyanwu, has urged Imo residents to express appreciation and sustained backing for Governor Hope Uzodimma.
In describing the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year celebrations as a period marked by exceptional peace, security, and infrastructural advancement, Anyanwu maintained that the “capacity Governor” merits commendation.
In a statement released to the media on Thursday, 22 January 2026, Chief Anyanwu observed that, for the first time in several years, Imo indigenes enjoyed a festive season characterised by unbroken peace and unrestricted movement across the state.
He stated that residents and visitors travelled freely from one local government to another, across zones, and within communities without fear of harassment, attacks, or intimidation by criminal elements, an environment he attributed to the state government’s strengthened security architecture.
“Beyond the peace that ushered our people home for the yuletide, there was noticeable and consistent security across the entire length and breadth of Imo State,” Anyanwu stated.
He also applauded the Uzodimma administration for its wide-ranging road infrastructure initiatives, describing them as durable, well-planned, and sustainable.
He then highlighted the enhanced internal road networks in Owerri, the dualised roads connecting Orlu, Okigwe, Mbaise, Obowo, and Umuahia, as well as the Uruala–Mgbee dualised road, which incorporates sophisticated bridge structures and erosion-control mechanisms across the Ogboko and Akokwa corridor.
Chief Anyanwu referred to Governor Uzodimma as “Nigeria’s Infrastructure Governor,” noting that the administration’s projects are not only visually appealing but constructed for longevity.
According to him, Imo citizens returning home for Christmas also observed the efficiency of the state’s security initiative, the Imo Security Outfit, a community-based security network made up of over 7,000 trained and armed operatives deployed across various local governments to maintain peace at the grassroots.
He added that the festive season was further energised by a series of political interactions and town hall sessions organised by the Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Macdonald Njoku, PhD.
These engagements, he noted, allowed party leaders and stakeholders to assess governance programmes and political strategies while recognising grassroots leadership.
The meetings were also complemented by the distribution of Christmas welfare items across communities.
Chief Anyanwu stated that Governor Uzodimma’s courtesy visits to friends, associates, and community leaders during the period helped reinforce relationships and reflected what he described as the governor’s compassionate and people-focused leadership approach.
He further cited a recent South-East APC stakeholders’ meeting in Enugu, where party leaders commended Governor Uzodimma’s leadership role at the national level.
According to Chief Anyanwu, stakeholders collectively resolved to offer the governor full support in his role as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, with the primary objective of mobilising the region for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
Chief Anyanwu concluded that many Igbo leaders now regard Governor Uzodimma as a link to Nigeria’s political mainstream, adding that Imo citizens have continued to openly demonstrate admiration for what he described as the governor’s unique and performance-driven leadership style.
