The residents of Umuoma Nekede in Owerri West local government area comprising of stranger elements and indigenes have cried out loud to the people’s governor Uzodinma to run to their Immediate rescue on road.

This call serves as an SOS to the governor of Imo state who they said have the interest of the people at heart to help the residents have a passable road to assess their daily assignments in the state.

Information revealed to 9News Nigeria was that the Naze/Nekede/FEDPONEK/Ihiagwa/FUTO/Obinze major road which was awarded to a construction company handling the project has so far stopped work and abandoned the road at poly school gate while the users suffer.

Recall that at the commencement of this road from Naze area, the contractor applied a certain speed of work that was commendable but down to FEDPONEK gate the company slowed its speed of work causing a whole lot of traffic jam and hard times to the users of this particular road.

The state government through the Commissioner for works had promised to complete the 45km road as awarded while the House of Assembly member representing Owerri west, who now doubles as the majority leader of the state house has however pleaded on his people to calm down promising that the work will be completed SPEEDILY.

But regrettedly work has automatically stopped at FEDERAL Polythecnic Nekede front gate with a little push down to Nekede secondary school gate.

Also it may interest is to know that Government workers, students, private business owners and civil servants are majorly domiciled in this area with such a bad road.

Meanwhile, the state of the road is worst at Umuoma police post area where Police Training college, Business agencies and Government establishments are cited.

Users of this road can negotiate through divergent road in Umuoma Nekede Community via police post area down to Ihiagwa if Government can help grade the road to help the masses.

The road is a good link to Ihiagwa, FEDPONEK through Nekede old road back to Owerri municipal but the condition is worrisome and need Government intervention.

While responding to the plight of the residents in this area who trooped out en-masse to protest against Government, the president general of Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community Uche NWANERI has pleaded with them to stay calm and promised to get in touch with the Imo state government through the Commissioner for works to help in the grading of alternative local road in the community while the construction on the major road continues.

The situation is unbecoming to watch the residents of Nekede area suffer the present condition of bad road as the raining season sets in.
