Imo state government under Hope Uzodinma has concluded negotiations to mobilize Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) to begin operation at Assa Ohaji Gas Plant.

Shell Petroleum has also renewed investment to drill over six wells worth millions of Unite states Dollars under a gas development project as gathered by 9News Nigeria.

Governor Uzodinma made this promise to Imo people that his adminstration will do everything possible to improve the oil sector and revive every other decaying sector across the zones of the state.

Recall that operation was put on hold at the Gas Plant for sometime pending the intervention of Hope Uzodinma’s administration as reported by 9News Nigeria.

However, it is close to two years of putting on hold construction work of the multi-billion naira Assa North/Ohaji South Gas Development Project in Ohaji/Egbema Council of Imo State.

But the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) has mobilised workers and returned to site following the intervention of Imo State Government.

The SPDC had, in 2019, performed the ground-breaking of the project with a potential capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, one of the largest domestic gas projects in Nigeria.

Government of Imo is seriously working in synergy with SPDC to protect both human and material resources to give Shell and its workers the confidence to be fully operational.

Meanwhile, initial completion projection was put at year 2023, but was put on hold in 2021, following security breaches which have now been taken care of by Uzodinma’s led adminstration.

Continous state of volatility index of the people of the area has set the operations and construction work backwards as gathered by 9News Nigeria.

While Governor Hope Uzodinma has reconciled every desenting groups in the area, it is expected of Assa Ohaji Gas Plant to be fully operational.

Also, resources accrued to the host Communities in the area should not be tempered by political leaders in the area or government appointees considering the level of damages oil spillage and gas pollution have caused the area.

Money got from these multimillion companies domiciled in the area have to be utilized to develop both the Communities and empower the Youths. In extension add to the internally generated revenue IGR of Imo state Nigeria.
