Imo Youths have expressed their anger and dissatisfaction over the continued delay of their proposed travel to United States and other developed countries for immediate employment, as promised by the state government some years back, at the Skill Up Imo ICT empowerment.

The regret came at the break of the news of the government of Ebonyi state Nigeria that boarded not fewer than two hundred (204) to United Kingdom as part of government scholarship empowerment to Ebonyi Youths.

This great feat is quite commendable as Nigerians all over the globe have charged other governors, mostly those in the South Eastern region to emulate this wonderful gesture established by the Ebonyi state government led by His Excellency Governor Nwaifuru.

Again, some Imolites who spoke with 9News Nigeria said , upon the completion of ICT training through “Imo Skill Up” empowerment scheme, the organizers promised flying Imo youths abroad to secure some jobs but till the time of filling this News, this Saturday morning, no Youth can attest to this benefit.

“It is shocking to us that other states are empowering their youths and at a breaking news of it , is actualization and promise accomplished but over here in Imo, the reverse is the case”

“We thought that the Imo skill up empowerment is a way of opening employment opportunity window abroad for beneficiaries to board and secure some good jobs abroad but nothing is coming up till date.

Meanwhile, just few days ago, Ebonyi state Governor Francis Nwifuru have sent about two hundred and four (204) Ebonyi indigenes to United Kingdom as part of his scholarship scheme. The beneficiaries departed middle of this week.

Nwaifuru further disclosed that Eight thousand (8,000) Ebonyi people must benefit from the State scholarship Scheme before the end of his administration as a way to equip the youths with skills and knowledge to drive the development of the State forward.

The Governor had earlier called on the newly enrolled indigenous students of the state scholarship scheme to serve as exemplary ambassadors of the state. He urged them to be conscious of their words, actions, and achievements, as these reflect the collective identity of the Ebonyi people.

In addition to the Ebonyi government policy on empowerment, about five hundred and forty one (541) Ebonyians, mainly Youths were sent to Nigerian Universities at various locations, with all expenses covered by the Ebonyi State Government.

Speaking to the press, Governor Nwaifuru emphasised the importance of graduating on time and returning to the state to apply their expertise in their fields of specialisation to advance Ebonyi for the benefit of all.

Imo youths are there calling on governor hope Uzodinma to remember the promise made to skill up graduates to travel abroad at the end of program for job employment.

The youths also pleaded with Imo state government to borrow a leaf from Ebonyi government whose words of action have triggered every Nigerian youths. This was showcased on the responses made on various online portals concerning the recent travel of Ebonyi youths to UK.

Some government officials who spoke to our correspondent behind the camera have reassured Imo youths of the readiness of Imo state government under Governor Hope Uzodinma to fulfilling his promises to Imolites targetted at making the state a model economic hub and ICT compliance.

The above policies of the 3R Shared Prosperity Administration of the All Progressives administration of His Excellency Dr Hope Uzodinma recently led to his prestigious award as best ICT Governor of the Year in Nigeria. This is the time to practice the preached as Imolites yearn for good governance, quality roads and the completion of both Ohaji Egbema power generation and the Oguta lake national grid line to boost economy in Imo.
