Operatives of Owerri Capital Development Authority,(OCDA), led by the Special Adviser/General Manager Engr. Francis Chukwu on Tuesday commenced the pulling down of shanties erected on the verge of number 1 Naze bus stop, Owerri North Local Government Area of the State.

Our correspodent in Owerri gathered that Imo State government through OCDA had earlier sent out a statement last year December during a city wide awareness campaign tagged “operation reclaim the Streets of Owerri Capital Territory from Shanties.

This was carried out precisely on 21 of December, 2021 where OCDA urged occupants of shanties at the verge to relocate to State Government approved site on or before 10th January 2022.

In addition to this, the Special Adviser/General Manager Engr. Francis Chukwu on Monday, with his team visited the area to remind occupants of shanties to relocate, following the expiration of January 10th 2022 deadline as well as the over two months grace period given to them owing to the milk of Human Kindness of the Governor His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma in order to ensure that they have enough time to move to the State Government designated markets.
