The President general of Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community in Owerri West local government area of Imo state, Hon. Uche Nwaneri has rolled out possible plans to kickstart the control and management of waste within the community.

The leadership of Uche NWANERI and his executives are poised to develop Umuoma Nekede and empower their people within the limited time of service as caretakers of Government.

This measures was made open in a town hall meeting held over the weekend at Umuoma town hall located within the premesis of nkwonunuyo village market in Umuoma Nekede.

9News Nigeria gathered that the government of Imo state under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma has requested the president generals PGs in all the Communities of Imo state to mobilize the grassroots and develop their areas inline with the 3R mantra of state government to bring services to the rural communities.

Hon Nwaneri however thanked the caretakers, landlords and business owners in Umuoma Community for their positive response to attend the meeting en-masse.

Meanwhile, among the resolutions made was to segment zonal disposal points at various areas to capture the entire wastes before its evacuation by the community waste management agency.

Landlords however suggested for a long-term sustainability plan that will yield good results and Immediate actions without delay.

Also in their resolution was to set up a long-term plan to involve a technical Committee to see to its effective service delivery.

They also had in their plan to establish Public Incinerators and Toilets within the catchment points around the Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community to diffuse waste and maintain proper hygiene level.

This course will also involve every household, Indigenous land lords/ caretakers and the indigenes hence everybody generate waste in one way or the other on daily basis.

PG NWANERI had earlier called for fairness, equity and unity among the stranger elements and indigenes.

They also resolved to reach to the Government through the Commissioner for works to ask the contractors handling Nekede/ Ihiagwa major roads to come to their aid to make the alternative local road in Umuoma Nekede from the Mmiri Nkwoahia bridge to Umuagwu Junction motorable while the construction last.

Outrageous billing by EEDC was another item discussed to help it’s users enjoy low tarriff and regular supply of electricity in the community.

They futher adopted that combustibles (solid waste) are recyclable While green decomposables are for AGRICULTURAL use and source of revenue. And if harnessed properly will bring resources to the community.

At the close of the meeting, Adoption of technical heads was made to effect actions Immediately while the caretaker committee of Government pleaded for united support and cooperation to change the negative narrative to Improve Umuoma Nekede Autonomous community in their time.
