IMSIRA, NOA, Ministries, Parastatals Must Rise To Invest On Social Media Practitioners To Promote Govt Programs, Products-Lawmakers

Call has gone to all the recognized arms of government, agencies and Parastatals to henceforth increase engagement with social media practitioners and active bloggers to promote both government programs, products and local investments across the states of the Federation.

House of Assembly lawmakers made this call of importance to push the government agencies to work to enable Nigerians be notified of the numerous products and markets domiciled in various states.

The engagement and super funding of social media practitioners cum handlers and high traffic bloggers will no doubt help the government to market desirable products in the states to attract more investors and business engagement.

Nigeria should diversify in utilizing our local social media handlers, bloggers and online advocates on Facebook , Twitter X, WhatsApp, Instagram to improve the well-being of the country and to attract both local and international investors across the states of the Federation.

The House of Assembly further regretted the decline on information circulation while noting that , in Imo State for instance, it is very hard to hear the activities of Imo State Investments and Promotion Agency IMSIPA, National Orientation Agency NOA, Ministry of Commerce and Industry , Ministry of information, various agencies and Parastatals saddled with the enormous degrees of responsibilities to Market Imo to the world.

Noting that product like ceramics which Imo has the highest production and highest deposit of white clay in Africa has remained unannounced, unnoticed abd moribund till date.

So many amusement and recreational centers, zoological gardens, world-class investment centers, entrepreneurial centers, products from some Polytechnics, Institutions, government technical colleges in Nigeria have in same manner remained unnoticed , behind the scene, where Nigerians cannot hear or perceive its existence and importance due to lack of engagement with the social media handlers and quality bloggers in Nigeria.

Further noticed that no company, industry, agency , parastatal and government can market its products and programs without investing hugely on social media handlers.

Thanking the government for the recent law on cyber crime check , the Facebook, Whatsapp, X, Instagram and News Bloggers have created and provided the platforms to showcase , educate, entertain, promote the country on good image and to attract investors for economic boost.

The call for huge funding and engagement of social media handlers by government and business agencies will definitely be a fast way of creating more employment to serious minded Nigerian Youths against the backdrop of cyber crime, restiveness, corruption and insecurity bedevilling the states, the legislators advised.

The government is expected to create enabling environment and provide necessary logistics. It is also the duties of government to fund such promoters and image makers to enable them capture the targetted audience and more investors.

“There is no how our Youths cannot benefit from social media engagement and empowerment of this sort by government. Over there in developed countries, social media is a serious business and its providers and handlers are well made, highly respected and encouraged unlike the opposite, we experience here in Nigeria, taking social media as nothing” .

“This is the trend of advertisement, promotion of goods and services and placing safe landing atmosphere for investors . Therefore let’s employ the services of social media handlers and put the to work to salvage the public image of the country alongside showcasing government programs and products across the globe, Nigerian legislators reacted.

The Imo House of Assembly IMHA in their recent plenary, therefore direct the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and House Committee on Industry to move-in and do viability indices using the social media outlets to tell the world what Imo wants, same to be applicable at the FG level.

IMHA frowned at “No commercials, No marketing, No alliance with social media outlets to promote Imo State, No image making, No governance “.

While calling on the government to use the the Private Partnership bill already passed into law by IMHA to activate all moribund industries in Imo, Rt Hon Kennedy Ibe, Minority Leader Hon Princewill Amuchie, Hon Ben Ozoemenam, Hon Johnloba, Barr Chisom Ojukwu, Dr Ezeadi, Hon Sam Ikechukwu, Uba Esile, Innocent Ikpamezie, Hon Obinna Egu, Hon Ikenna Ihezuo and the Majority Leader Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi heartily supported the motion moved by Hon Samuel Ogunikpa on May 7th, 2025, to urge His Excellency Governor Uzodinma to revive, reposition, reconstruct and review the ceramic industry at Ezinachi Okigwe Imo State Nigeria.

Recall that the ceramic industry in Okigwe Imo State has been moribund after the First Civilian Governor of Imo State Sam Mbakwe left office. And till date and time of filling this investigative report by 9News, no business of such continued.

The legislators also agreed to facilitate the motion to put moribund industries to work and by so doing, To attract more IGR ,
To attract employment, To diversify into ceramic ,To expand economic boost, To reduce insecurity,To attract exportation and importation and also increase Human capacity development as well as generate goodwill for the government and the people of the state.

Kennedy Ibeh highlighted the reason to engage social media handlers across boards to promote government programs and products while stating that the ceramic industry in Okigwe was ranged at 30million products on yearly basis.

He added that using the social media handlers across platforms ie , engaging and funding them , Will help alot on its promotion and sensitization, attraction of investors and massive boost of IGR.
