IMSU SUG Debunks Booing Uzodinma, Reassures Commitment To His Re-Election Bid

The Students Union Government of Imo state University Owerri, has refuted the online report against the Governor of Imo state, his Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma.

The SUG President Comrade Chidera Chidera Vernitus stated categorically on the misconception of facts about the recent visitation of Governor Hope Uzodinma to the school at an interactive session held in the school as 9News Nigeria reports.

The show took place at a heat point, when the state is warming up to cast their votes to their preferred candidate for the 2023 governorship election slated to hold on Saturday November 11.

Though the opposition may likely buy into such gathering to lure students and hire crowds to woo fellow Guber candidate, the students of Imo state University Owerri has re-assured their commitment to work for Governor Hope Uzodinma’s re-election.

The students therefore stated that the recent visitation of the Governor of Imo state, on an interactive session with the school members and management is a welcome development.

“It is a known fact that Governor Hope Uzodinma means well to the school following his administration’s huge investment to IMSU.

The students Union government in response regretted the trending videos on social media space while stating that the people that booed the Governor were hired and contracted by the political opposition.

“The people that shouted at the event are actually not the students of IMSU and the noise against the Governor at the meeting was stage managed and destructive, SUG maintained.

The students stated categorically the good works of the Governor in the school and to the students at large whereby realign their full support to Uzodinma.

The students vowed to continue supporting the re-election bid of the incumbent Governor Uzodinma to enable him continue his good works which included the free education set at a 29,500 naira tuition fee rate per student.

In addition, even when the Academic staff Union ASUU ,went on strike for eight months, the Governor was still paying the lecturers their full salaries as at when due.

Uzodinma also gave instant employment to the FirstClass graduates of Optometry following his resolve to encourage the education sector.

Recall that for the past 15 Years, IMSU medicine and surgery students was not graduated due to accreditation but Governor Uzodinma facilitated their graduation to the surprise of the previous administrations in the state.

Also, the convocation of IMSU graduates which was not done for the last eight years was by the fatherly assistance of Governor Hope Uzodinma.

It is a known fact that there is lack of electricity and high cost of both fuel, transportation and living in Imo gathered by 9News Nigeria.

The students are not left out in the negative effects these anomalies have brought, but since the root cause is confirmable pointed at politically stage managed, the students are calling on the attention of the government of Imo state to do the needful and put smiles on the faces of the generality of Imo students.

Meanwhile on the day of the interactive session with IMSU students, Governor Uzodinma opened up on his resolve to address the issues raised without delay but have asked the students to focus on their education and explore the numerous empowerment packages his government has brought, like the SKILLUP program among others.

The SKILLUP program is targetted at training and empowering of thousands of Imo students and the Youth to key into the recent day technically advancement and successful human investment as established by the Uzodinma’s led government.

The SUG has therefore through this medium pleaded with the Governor to tar IMSU internal link roads, mobilize the Union with a functional bus and restore light.

The Union has warned authoritatively against any form of violence and called on Imo state students to stay out of trouble, before, during and after the Saturday upcoming gubernatorial election in the state while wishing Governor Hope Uzodinma a successful re-election.

The students also wished other Guber candidates well while pleading with all Imolites to maintain peace and discipline to improve the society and allow prosperty flourish.

The 18th executive Council of the students Union Government SUG were in full attendance at the meeting which included, Comrades Emmanuel Chigozie- Director of sports, Njemanze Cynthia -Director of finance, Chukwunenye Devine Favour -Vice president and the Okwaraji Chidera- SUG president.

Also present were the following SUG Legislative Council Principal Officers cum Rt Honourables: Ugochukwu Okolie -speaker, Agha Meshach – Deputy speaker, Agbapuluonwu Micheal -Chief Clerk, Ogubunka Kelechi -Chief Whip, Opara Oluomachi -In-House committee chairman on finance and Henry Stephen Chidera- In-House Committee chairman on probe and investigation.

The SUG 18th Republic Judiciary Council Igwenyero Chisona Harrison, Chief Judge was also in attendance.
