The National Independent Electoral Commission, INEC – has released it’s calendar and political itinerary for 2022 in Nigeria ahead of the Presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State House Assembly elections in the country.
Below is the timetable for all 2023 general elections in Nigeria:
Consultation continues January 2022: 1-31
Intensive consultation continues February 2022: 1-28.
March 2022: INEC gives guideline for aspirants, candidates, parties in respect of congress, primary election and campaign.
April 2022: Campaign for Presidential and Gubernatorial elections.
May 2022: Party Congresses.
June 2022: Party Primary Elections.
July 2022: Petitions on Primary elections.
August 2022: Court of Appeal hearing on Primary elections conducted.
September 2022: Supreme Court verdict on all Primary elections. Candidates & winners for Presidential & Gubernatorial flag bearer of Parties contesting.
October 2022: Aggressive campaign by candidates/Parties across the federation.
November 2022: Campaign continues.
December 2022: Peace Accord signed by all presidential and Gubernatorial candidates.
February 2023: Presidential and National Assembly elections
March 2023: Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.
Furthermore the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) warned that political parties should strictly adhere to it’s timetable and guidelines as it will not tolerate any default from any of the political parties.
