The Imo State chapter of the forum uniting all political parties in Nigeria known as Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) have announced her readiness to conduct a political summit where they will unveil lasting solution to the insecurity challenge ravaging Imo State. The summit will afford security agencies, government functionaries, political parties candidates and all others to adhere to the security solution measures to be provided by IPAC.

IPAC categorically commended the Imo State government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma for what they described as provision of democracy and fair environment for all political parties to freely play the politics, consideration of political parties through IPAC during the sharing of 2022 Christmas packages, road networks and efforts in tackling insecurity in the State.

IPAC made these known on Wednesday during IPAC press conference held at there Secretariat in Owerri as presided by the State IPAC Chairman, Ichie Levi Ekeh, Hon. Uzoigwe Ferdinand (Deputy State Chairman), Hon. Edoziem Clinton (State Secretary), the APGA State Chairman, Hon. John Iwuala and others.

They clarified that Imo State IPAC has no faction as the two years tenure of Ichie Levi Ekeh is ongoing, that constitution of IPAC gives no room for caretaker and that the defaulted members have been pardoned and free to join again. Also noted that Ichie Levi Ekeh led administration of IPAC is transparent and prudent which necessitated opening of bank account for Imo IPAC so as to ensure accountability.

“Our reason for inviting you is to interact with you, of course, state the obvious and let Imolites and the World know what is going on in Imo State IPAC. We play advisory role to the government and INEC. In the recent time, some group of persons who called themselves G12 have been parading themselves with claim that they are now the leadership of IPAC in Imo State, we want to use this opportunity to state emphatically that the leadership of IPAC in Imo State led by Ichie Levi Ekeh is still very much intact, there has not been any change of leadership, there is a lay down rules, we were elected and by the code of conduct of IPAC, our tenure last for two years.”

“This is an IPAC government that has prudent as the watchword. One of the things we have done which has not happened in IPAC before is to open an account so that by any means money comes into IPAC, it will pass through the account but they accused us that we opened the account to defraud Imolites, I challenge any of those accusing us to get me any Imolite who has paid money into IPAC account. The reason for opening IPAC account is for us to run a very prudent and transparent government.”

“Their grievances boils down to the fact that they asked us to use instrumentalities of IPAC to fight the government of the day, and we made them to understand that there is no reason fighting the government of the day because the government has not done anything wrong.

When the government is doing what is not right, we criticize the government and when they are doing what is right, we applaud them, just like the Owerri-Orlu road, Owerri Okigwe road, he is trying in Owerri-Mbaise-Umuahia road.

“If you ply these roads, we will appreciate it, we are saying in certain areas, the Imo State government of the day has done well and we are encouraging him to do more, the area of road network, the government has done well, they have also done well in the area of security but the government should do more especially in the rural areas Security and road network in various communities in the rural areas”

“IPAC had wanted to carryout a summit last year, these same people were chosen as committee chairmen, the moment we mobilized them, we gave some of them one point something million, some, five hundred thousand naira, and so on, they went away with the money and they started fighting against IPAC.

But we are calling on them, IPAC is one everywhere, the room is still open for them to come back after all, the prodigal son who squandered the father’s money came back begging and the father forgive him, if they come back, we will still have them back.”

“We want to use this opportunity to appreciate the government of Imo State, if you take a good look, you will discover that the government is trying it possible best in provision of social amenities in the State in terms of good road network and other facilities.

We also want to use this opportunity to appreciate the State government for considering IPAC in the last Xmas: the government of the day gave Christmas packages to IPAC and we are saying thank you. When you take cognizant of what is happening in other States, you will discover that here in Imo State, we have been giving a very fair ground to carry all our political activities.”

“We want to use this opportunity to commiserate with security agencies for the lost of their personnel and other imolites that lost their lives, we are praying that as soon as possible, normalcy and peace will return to Imo State, this is our earnest desire because in the face of peace, you will record progress, in the state of anarchy, there won’t be any headway.”

“As far as Nigeria is concerned, insecurity is the order of the day, here, the government in place is trying their best to make sure that they bring insecurity to it minimum, so, why will we heat up the polity when we are trying to see that peace come back to the State, we condemned the attack on security agencies and politicians, there is no country without leadership.

As campaign is on going, we are charging candidates of various political parties to play according to the rules, political exercise should be play with human face.”

“IPAC is planning a security summit where we can advise the government and security agencies on the measures to use in the fight against insecurity because all those perpetrating insecurity in Imo have a village, community, Local Government or a place where they sleep.” The stated.
