Iran’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Gholamreza Mahdavi Raja, has offered Tehran’s readiness to support Nigeria in fight against terrorism, calling the threat a shared challenge for both nations.
Speaking in Arise Television, Raja stressed that Islamic groups in Nigeria maintain only spiritual and cultural ties with Iran, not political ones countering claims of direct involvement in local militant activity.
He also highlighted that Iran condemns terrorism in all forms and is willing to share its counter-terrorism expertise to help Nigeria combat groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.
The envoy’s statement comes amid diplomatic tensions, with allegations from some foreign representatives suggesting Iranian involvement in the regional extremist networks – a claim Tehran has dismissed as propaganda.
